Inca Kola

Now I am not a big soda drinker, but I tasted Inca Kola and found it to be enjoyable. Inca Kola is Peru’s version of Coca-cola.  It is a gold colored soft drink that, to me, smells like bubble gum.  It has a very sweet, fruity flavor that is distinctive. It was interesting because it tasted nothing like it looked or smelled.

It is definitely the refresco of choice for Peruvians.  The golden beverage was born in Peru and produced by a Peruvian company until recently when the Coca Cola Co. bought it.

Inca Kola was created in Peru in 1935, by British immigrant José Robinson Lindley using lemon verbena.
